Al-fikr – Cairn.info: New horizons for scientific publishing in Tunisia
The Tunisian scientific electronic resources platform Al-fikr, in collaboration with its French partner Cairn.info, announces the official launch of its digital portal, marking a major step forward for the promotion of scientific research in Tunisia and the Maghreb region.
Official launch of the Al-fikr platform, in partnership with Cairn.info
Location: Beit al Hikma, Tunis, Tunisia
October 7th, 2025
Designed as a space for the dissemination and consultation of scientific works in French and Arabic, Al-fikr is part of an ambitious approach to promoting local publications, while offering international visibility to their authors. Thanks to this strategic partnership with Cairn.info, a leading platform in francophone academic publishing, the content available on Al-fikr will benefit from wider dissemination within the global scientific community.
This partnership with Cairn.info is much more than a simple technical agreement: it is a recognition of the intellectual wealth produced in Tunisia and the Maghreb. It is also a guarantee of quality and visibility for our researchers and publishers.
emphasizes Brahim Jrah, founder of Al-fikr.
The Al-fikr platform now hosts publications from many renowned Tunisian and North African publishers, such as Nirvana, Sud Éditions, Beit al Hikma, and Ibla, who have placed their trust in the project to distribute their journals, books, and articles to a wider audience via a channel recognized for its excellence. The integration of this content on Cairn.info not only allows them to reach new readers internationally, but also to become part of global academic circles.
Cairn/Al-fikr Tunisian Research Award
To mark the launch, an award ceremony will be held to honor the three most-read Tunisian authors on Cairn.info in 2025. The “Cairn/Al-fikr Tunisian Research Prize” aims to highlight the excellence and impact of Tunisian research on an international scale.
This unprecedented recognition pays tribute to researchers whose work, published on Cairn.info, has captured the interest of a wide academic audience and contributed to the visibility of knowledge produced in Tunisia.
This initiative has two objectives:
- To strengthen access to knowledge produced locally by Maghreb researchers, who are often underrepresented in international databases.
- To encourage the circulation and recognition of this knowledge by promoting dialogue between researchers in the North and South.
By facilitating access to high-quality scientific publications, Al-fikr is becoming a strategic lever for the development of research in the region, while actively contributing to the construction of a francophone space for shared knowledge.
